Algeria 0 - 4 Egypt - Egypt beats the Algerian arrogance


.One of the most remarkable facts in world soccer must be the fact that Egypt hasn't played in a World Cup since 1990. Egyptian clubs always fare well in the CAF Champions League, winning five tournaments in the last decade. At the same time the Egyptian national team has absolutely dominated the African Cup of Nations, almost making the tournament their own personal fiefdom. The Pharaohs are on pace to write another piece of history into the record book after thrashing North African rival Algeria Thursday 4-0 in the semifinals of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. Egypt will play Ghana in Sunday's final, looking to become the first country to win the bi-annual competition three straight times. A win would give the Pharaohs, who haven't lost in the competition since 2004, their seventh overall title -- also a record. Thursday's semifinal victory was a bit of revenge for Egypt, which lost to Algeria 1-0 for the final African World Cup spot on Nov. 18, 2009 in a match played in Sudan. Egypt made sure to inflict as much insult to injury as possible, as Algeria finished the match with only eight men. The final insult came when keeper Faouzi Chaouchi was sent off in the final five minutes for his second yellow of the game. Chaouchi was likely living on borrowed time anyway as he actually head-butted the referee for his first yellow card following Abd Rabo's 39th minute penalty, which put Egypt ahead 1-0.
